News 3 Now is looking for an Assistant News Director to join our experienced team of managers and help lead and grow a team of hungry, creative journalists.  You’ll set the daily editorial strategy and work with broadcast and digital producers to execute that strategy across our different platforms.  You’ll also join our hands-on, collaborative, management team in setting long-term strategy, budgets, recruit new talent and coach and train both veteran and emerging journalists.  All of this, while working for a company that values YOUR time away from work.  We believe in working hard, but also leaving space for the things that give your life and career meaning.

What you’ll do:                        

• Work with Producers, Anchors and Production team on visual and content execution of broadcasts.
• Work with News Director on newsroom strategy and execution.
• Assist News Director with budgets, recruiting and coaching.
• Work with other station departments on sponsorships, promotions and community events.
• Directly supervise and coach Reporters, Weather Anchors and other personnel as required.

What you’ll bring:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Communications, Journalism, or other related fields
• At least 3 years of experience in a television newsroom with experience managing a team.
• Track record of success in key newsroom positions.
• People orientation and a desire to lead and coach others on content, strategy and skills development.
• Organized, strategic and innovative thinker.
• Understanding of target audiences and metrics of success in TV, Digital and social media.
• Clear understanding of journalism rules, laws and rights.
• Aspirations beyond the Assistant News Director position.
