Job Summary/Description:
The ideal candidate is an experienced journalist who can do it all and relishes being a team leader. As the weekend anchor and producer, you’ll work closely with reporters to develop content for multiple newscasts, as well as content for web, mobile, and social media platforms. In addition to anchoring and producing on the weekends, this position includes reporting as a multimedia journalist three days during the week. The ability to creatively tell a story and file engaging reports is a must.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Anchor multiple weekend newscasts.
- Proofread newscast scripts with attention to accuracy, completeness, and clarity.
- Help research and write news content for TV and digital platform.
- Report on breaking news and special projects, as assigned.
- Develop sources and connections within the community.
- Take part in community outreach as an ambassador for the station.
- Coach and assist reporters and producers regularly.
- Develop, maintain, and regularly engage with viewers on social media.
- Helps execute station policies and mission within newsroom and newscasts.
- Required to work holidays and varying shifts on occasion.
- Gather, shoot, and edit content for multiple platforms
- Pitch and research stories daily
- Responsible for confirming information for your stories
- Report live on the scene when needed
- Other reasonable duties as assigned by the manager
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent on-camera delivery of scripted and ad-libbed content
- Excellent news judgment and journalistic ethics
- Computer literacy required, including, ideally ENPS news system
- Knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment
- Edit video on Edius or similar equipment
- Strong broadcast and AP-style writing skills
- Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
